A Time for Joyful Singing!

Dear Friends,

Welcome to the 2009-2010 season of NPM/DC!

Dome of the Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception, Washington, DC
The Bishops of the United States conclude their 2007 document, Sing to the Lord: Music in Divine Worship, with the words of St. Augustine: “You should sing as wayfarers do – sing but continue your journey. Do not grow tired, but sing with joy!”

Pastoral musicians have the awesome task of leading assemblies in joyful song. The coming months will present new challenges as the Church grows and makes changes in her celebration of liturgy. NPM is here to help!

Our local Chapter’s events this year include opportunities to learn, to celebrate, to sharpen our skills, to deepen our faith, and, most importantly, to get to know one another and support each other in our ministries. Please mark your calendars for these events, and as you peruse this year’s offerings, ask yourself if one of your fellow liturgical ministers, especially the clergy, might enjoy attending one or more events.

We look forward to seeing you!
