And it is a hopeful time – a time to re-charge our liturgical batteries as we prepare for the new Roman Missal . As noted on the website of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops: The introduction of the new Missal will be "an opportunity to reflect ever more deeply on the eucharistic celebration that lies at the heart of the Church’s life ... to take a fresh look at its liturgical practice and to renew its celebration of the Sacred Liturgy, which is the source and summit of Christian life." In the coming months, pastoral musicians will play an important role in parishes’ preparation for the implementation of the new Missal. Our understanding of the continuing development of the Church’s liturgy, and our enthusiasm for liturgy that is life-giving, will make a real difference to the assembly. The DC Chapter is here to help. Mark your calendars for this season's NPM/DC Chapter events. Encourage your parish and its musicians to join NPM, both your local Washington, DC chapter and the national organization. We look forward to welcoming you! - Charlene Dorrian, Chapter Director |
